Canillas de Albaida is a very pretty village perched on a hillside just a 3 minute drive or 20 minute (steep) walk from the Finca. There are flower-filled corners and balconies everywhere and livestock (including mules) are still kept below houses.

There are 3 churches in the village, The Ermita de Santa Ana, which sits right at the top of the village with stunning views over the Parque Natural, from where occasionally you can see Golden Eagles. The church still has some remains of Moorish architecture revealing its origins. There is the Ermita de San Anton, built in the sixteenth century where the 'Blessing of the Animals' festival is held each January. And the Iglesia de Expectacion, which is in the beautiful Plaza, the centre of the village where you will also find the excellent Bar y Restaurante La Plaza, with indoor and al fresco eating areas with occasional live music in the Summer.

Canillas boasts several very good restaurants and bars. The Cereca Bar (or Paco's) is typically Spanish with excellent basic Spanish fare, where a bottle of good house wine is only €6. It also has an area for inside eating a lovely terrace with views of the mountains. The Restaurante Almijara run by the lovely Loli and Gabrielle is good and again typically Spanish with a very pretty vine covered garden terrace with occasional live music. The Albaida Bar y Restaurante is excellent with a more eclectic international cuisine (with vegetarian options) with live acoustic music on Sundays in the cosy bar and occasional live music in the restaurant.

There are 3 small supermarkets, a bank, tabac, post office, pharmacy and consultorio (doctors). There are also 2 taxi services and from the Finca it costs just 5 euros to Canillas and 10 to Competa.
