Archez is a very attractive village with strong Moorish roots. This influence is most in evidence at the church of Nuestra Senora de la Encarnacion with its remarkable fourteenth century tower which is the minaret of an earlier mosque. Along with the minaret at Salares it is one of the best examples from this period and the sebka brickwork and blind arches above are particularly fine.

A stroll through the village's narrow streets reveal a number of architectural styles, some houses featuring sloping roofs while others have terraces, the latter being of more recent construction. Many of these houses have their own wells, which are supplied by the numerous currents that flow through the village.

There are 3 bars and 3 bar/restaurants. The Mudejar is very Moorish in style with an interior patio and rustic decor. The food is excellent using traditional ingredients and recipes like lamb in honey and wild boar in acorn sauce, vegetarian meals can be cooked on request. There are also 2 good typically Spanish restaurants, Venta el Curro and Restaurante La Peña serving basic but excellent Spanish food with occasional live music.

There are 2 small supermarkets, a bank and a post office. There is also a winery with a wine shop on the main street in to the village.

Festivals: January: San Anton. April: Semana Santa. July: Fiestas Patronales, Feria, Corpus y Noche Andaluza. December: Navidad.
